In the State of Georgia, when you hear "DISPATCH I AM 10-80," everyone's ears perk up just a little taller -- especially if you are a law enforcement officer. "10-80" is the Georgia code for "in pursuit!" I know this, because at one point in time, I was a Deputy Sheriff in Lee County, Ga., which is right where this took place. The skillful driving of the Lee County Sheriff's Office, Dougherty County Police Department, Albany Police and the Georgia State Patrol made sure this offender didn't get away.

I can't help but think  about Sheriff John Bunnell from the TV show narrating this chase with his silly quips and analogies. Speeds in this chase reached more 130 miles per hour.

While the Toyota Tundra is tough, it is no match for the skill of the Georgia State Patrol trooper who eventually ended the pursuit with his equally fast Dodge Charger. He skillfully used what is called the Precision Intervention Technique, or P.I.T Maneuver, to bring this chase to a peaceful end.

So if you ever wondered what being in a patrol car was like during a high speed chase, here is your chance to jump in and ride along, with none of the risk. Incidentally, the person they were chasing, William Bryan Owens, was wanted for aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, armed robbery, and hijacking. Needless to say, the good guy always gets his man!

Thank you to all the officers out there who put their lives on the line to protect us from people like this!
