2012 Olympics

I guess it was just a matter of time. It's bad enough that the athletes participating in the Olympic Badminton event were cheating, but now there are athletes who actually cheat in other ways! Nadzeya Ostapchuk, of Belarus, a shot putter, is now the first athlete to be stripped of a medal at the London Olympics after her gold was withdrawn today for doping.

Last night I watched Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh Jennings defeat fellow Americans Jennifer Kessy and April Ross, a win that not only extended their Olympic record to 21-0, it secured their third gold medal in a row. It was a cool moment for them and The United States, but all I could think was why aren't these women completely covered in sand?

One thing about the 2012 Olympics is the athletes are getting quite a bit of attention on their well-toned bods! These athletes are in top shape and we are definitely noticing! Ryan Lochte's chest and abs, Misty May Treanor's firm behind, to runner/hurdler Lolo Jones' perfect abs that earned her a cover on Runner magazine.

It looks like everybody has Olympic fever! Meet Dr. William Bell, the world record holder in pole vault for his age group.  The 90-year-old — the father of former Olympic silver medalist Earl Bell — is still jumping three times a week. Watch as he tries to beat his own record with a vault of 7’2″.

There have been some incredible moments in the 2012 London Olympics so far. I've watched every night and have been so inspired by the athletes. It's just amazing that all their hard work and effort comes down to what they do on one single day after a four-year wait!

When I read this, I couldn't believe it, U.S. Olympians get taxed on their medals. They also are taxed heavily at 35%, on their cash prize from winning a medal.

What a night to remember at the 2012 London Olympics yesterday. History was made and U.S.A. is on a definite roll. Michael Phelps takes home his 19th Olympic medal last night, making him the most decorated Olympian of all time!

The last time I checked the Olympic medal totals - U.S.A. had 19, tied with China. Way to go U.S.A. Since the 2012 London Olympics are here, Big D and Bubba posed the question this morning, "what would you or your spouse win gold in?" We thought it would fun to see what your answers would be.

Okay - I love the Olympics and I've been watching! But I have to admit - the opening ceremonies last Friday just sucked! But there was one redeeming part - the new James Bond girl - the Queen of England.

Considering everyone, from Justin Beiber and James Franco to Katy Perry have made their own lip-sync versions of Carly Rae Jepsen's worldwide smash "Call Me Maybe" -- it may not be the most original thing that the U.S. Olympic swimming team could have done. But it may be the smartest.

The 2012 Olympics in London officially start Friday (tomorrow), with the opening ceremonies, and I for one, am thrilled! Catch all the action on NBC who is covering the Olympics this year.

Greek triple jumper Paraskevi Papachristou (pictured far right) will be waiting another four years before she gets her chance to represent Greece in the Olympics. She was withdrawn from the London Olympics on Wednesday after tweeting a "joke" many deemed racist. What'd she tweet?
