It gave us the versions of "Merry Christmas from the Family," and "The Road Goes on Forever," that are forever seared into all good Texans' brains, hearts, and souls. It's easily one of my top three albums of all-time. But much more than that, it's one of the best live albums ever made.

Robert Earl Keen is unequivocally, and without a single doubt one of the best entertainers of our time. His songs are stories, his stories are real, and they both just seem so effortless. At the 20th Annual Key West Songwriters Festival Keen offered up advice on how you can write a song. Pencil and paper time, boys and girls.

The July 2015 issue of Texas Monthly Magazine hits newsstands Monday, with two very talented Texans on the front cover - Robert Earl Keen and Lyle Lovett. This is definitely something I'd like to try, in 12-ounces or a keg (soon available in both). It's being described as a "classic Pilsner with a twist, showcasing hints of honey with a crisp, clean finish." Yeah, I want some of this.

Trying to rank Red Dirt and Texas songs is something I've always wanted to do, but could never (in good conscience) take on.
