(KNUE-FM) High school football is a way of life in Texas, it’s truly remarkable to see small towns shut down to cheer on their hometown team. Although, there are details about one high school football coach in Texas that is now being sued for allegedly making some athletes exercise in the nude.

Father Files Lawsuit Over Locker Room Punishment

The details came from My San Antonio about a father who has filed a lawsuit after finding out that his son was forced to exercise naked as a form of punishment and humiliation.

Coach Identified in Legal Documents

The lawsuit was filed in Hidalgo County as Edinburg resident Raul Rocha filed the lawsuit on behalf of his son. The lawsuit claims that the head football coach at the time, Ernie Alonzo, was responsible. He was employed at Robert Vela High School and after forcing students to exercise naked, the incident was claimed to be covered up by powerful political players within the school district.

The incident in question allegedly happened on March 22, 2024 after the student-athlete finished showering. The student attempted to cover up by putting on underwear and the Defendant Alonzo is said to have threatened and ordered him to remain nude, according to the lawsuit.

Claims of Cover-Up by School Officials

The lawsuit goes on to say that there were prior complaints about Alonzo that were covered up by the district’s athletic director and the principal at Robert Vela High School. Also in the court documents it shows the school district police department quashed the allegations even after finding, “multiple other victims.”

The school district is denying any wrongdoing. Saying that several students took too long to get lunch and as a punishment did up/downs in the locker room.
