An El Paso, Texas man was shot and killed while visiting family in Juarez, Mexico and a judge is now going to make a Chihuahua state police officer stand trial for homicide charges regarding the incident.

This story is extremely sad as 19-year-old Julian Alfredo Rodriguez was shot and killed on Sunday, January 5th, 2025.

What Lead to the Texas Man Being Shot and Killed in Mexico?

According to KXAN, members of the State Investigations Unit (AEI) were serving an arrest warrant in a Juarez neighborhood. One of the members of law enforcement there was Arturo Ivan V.S.

Auturo was in the middle of the street monitoring traffic as the warrant was issued. That is when Rodriguez and his brother were seen driving in his blue Ford Mustang near the investigation with the warrant.

That is When the Shot Was Fired

As Ivan was patrolling the traffic he felt as though Rodriguez and his brother were getting too close to the warrant investigation and shot his AR-15 rifle at the Mustang.

The 34-year-old member of law enforcement says the shot was taken out of self-defense.

Judge Doesn’t Agree with Mexican Officer

After reading the autopsy report a Mexican judge has decided there is enough evidence for Ivan to remain in jail for the next two months as prosecutors and his lawyers prepare for trial.

Rodriguez was in Juarez spending time with family. At the time of this incident, he was with his brother on their way to get food for a family meal.
