Texas truly relied on the New supplemental nutrition assistance program commonly known as the snap. Snap offers food assistance to low-income individuals and Texas had a percentage of 79% who were snap participants. According to Every Texan, more than 3.4 million Texans received snap benefits and relied on this program to feed their family.

Libby Campbell who is the CEO of the West Texas food bank says we have the highest inflation in 40 years, we are estimating that the food costs are going to continue to rise over the next year at 8.6%, and most people that are eligible for a snap or not ones that are seeing the rise. even though the snap benefits were adjusted for inflation it is said that the adjustments aren’t enough to adequately account for increasing food costs. Texans are finding their selves asking now what will be the alternative if they’re not able to feed their family. Food banks of course are there but are they going to be able to also help out where families in Texas feel comfortable?

According to KSAT Snap precipitants will see a cut in food benefits starting this month and for some Texans, I feel like three years is long enough for someone to be able to continue providing for them without the assistance of snacks. There are Texans whose snap is decreased more that they will find her selves in a very serious predicament.
