Tyler Man Arrested in Shocking Minor Assault Case

It’s always alarming when you hear about things like this happening in our community. But recently there was a man who was accused of inappropriately touching an underage girl at a Tyler gas station.

According to KLTV, 38-year-old Wilson Herrera-Solares of Tyler has been charged with online solicitation of a minor and indecency with a child via sexual assault.

What Tyler Police Say Happened at the Gas Station

Law enforcement was called to the 1700 block of Front Street in Tyler. Upon arrival, the girl told officers she had just walked out of the gas station when Herrera-Solares grabbed her arm, kissed her, and began touching her inappropriately. The girl told the police the contact was unwanted.

Police caught up with Herrera-Solares at his home on the 700 block of South Blackwell Avenue. When asked about the incident with officers, he admitted to the kiss but denied further contact.

Investigators Found Messages Between Suspect and Minor

Police searched his phone to find text messages with the girl dating back to May 10. In one of the messages found by law enforcement, Herrera-Solares asked the girl if she was his girlfriend and how they could get married. The girl often replied with one-word answers.

Tyler Man Arrested Following Police Investigation

Herrera-Solares was arrested and booked into the Smith County Jail.

The case serves as another reminder for parents to discuss online safety with their children and how quickly they can become dangerous. This situation could have quickly become worse.
