For the fourth year in a row, the Tyler Fire Department turned Tyler Pink last night to honor those that have fought, are fighting and could be fighting breast cancer. The event is in conjunction with national breast cancer awareness month and promotes breast cancer awareness. The students of TISD were challenged yesterday to show their support by wearing pink and one school stood above all the others.

When the challenge was over, 9 out of 10 students at Dogan Middle School wore pink to school yesterday and that earned the school the coveted Pink Fire Helmet Trophy. The trophy was presented to the school at the rally last night on the square that also featured an appearance from Stewart Middle School Cheerleaders and Robert E. Lee fiddlers.

Dogan's principal, Masud Shamsid-deen said, "Cancer has had an impact on so many of our lives, and in this small way we say we will fight this battle together." (TISD press release)
