As we go about our daily routines, ninety-nine percent of us will never come in contact with law enforcement in Gregg County, Texas, or any other law enforcement agency because we're law-abiding citizens. We are aware of our actions and the consequences that can occur if we were to break a law of any kind. Now we'll probably take chances while we're driving by going over the speed limit or not coming to a complete stop at a stop sign but that may be the extent of us taking any chance to have a chance meeting with a police officer possibly.

While going about their lives this past week, many people had unintentional encounters with the Longview Police Department, Gregg County Sheriff's Office, Texas DPS, Kilgore and White Oak Police Departments, and other agencies that ended up being arrested and processed into the Gregg County Jail. Everyone charged is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

One of the major offenses that individuals were cited for was driving while intoxicated followed by being in possession of some kind of controlled substance. Being cited for these offenses and others are preventable. It's all about the choices people make in their lives. When someone chooses to drink and then get behind the wheel, not only are they taking a chance with their own life, but the lives of countless others that are innocently driving on the roads as well. The people who choose to do this will most likely never read this and understand the consequences of their actions until something drastic happens to them or someone else. And sometimes even afterward they continue. That's why you see names on this list with 'driving while intoxicate 3rd' or sometimes more. They just haven't learned their lesson yet and that is extremely unfortunate.
