Hallsville, Texas Man Arrested This Week for Child Pornography
Earlier this week there was a man in Hallsville, Texas that was taken into custody by the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office after officers found him to be in possession of child pornography.
The man arrested was identified as 43-year-old Kevin Barnett.
Multiple Tips Led to Arrest for Child Pornography
On Monday, October 7th the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division received a call from Texas Child Protection Services about concerns regarding a juvenile who was photographed inappropriately.
Shortly after that tip, details began coming in about a “cyber tip” from the North Texas Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce. The tip was reviewed by law enforcement and identified the suspect as being in possession of multiple videos showing child pornography.
A Search Warrant Was Issued
It wasn’t long before law enforcement began searching Barnett’s residence and discovered supporting evidence. At that point an arrest warrant was issued for aggravated sexual assault of a child, and he was arrested.
Sheriff Fletcher Had This to Say About the Arrest
Sheriff Brandon Fletcher of Harrison County said, “I am very pleased with the outcome of this case.” He went on to say, “Our agencies work tirelessly to ensure that our community is safe for everyone, especially our youth.”
While no one wants to hear about crimes like this taking place in Texas, it makes you appreciate law enforcement officers and the work they do each day. Just as in any other court case in Texas the suspect is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
