While the holidays may be described as the 'most wonderful time of the year', springtime in East Texas comes in a very close second.

Everything is coming back from dormancy, sprouting beautiful, colorful flowers, green leaves springing from tree branches, and the pollenators are back, doing their job of spreading pollen!

I will say this: while springtime is beautiful in East Texas, I'm not fond of having to fire up the lawn mower and cut the grass every so often, but I'll accept it because it's a fact of life.

The blooming and greening of the trees and flowers are not the only things competing for our attention this Spring; the best festivals, special events, fun runs, fairs, and other activities will have us checking things out and enjoying spring weather.

This spring, visitors will be flocking to Palestine, Texas to Tyler, Texas to Jacksonville, Texas to take part in these wonderful events. While many of them will be free to attend, others may require an admission fee, which is okay because oftentimes a portion of the proceeds benefit a local East Texas non-profit.
