If you've ever watched Westerns or movies with fight scenes, than you have heard the "Wilhelm Scream." The "Wilhelm Scream" is a film and TV stock sound effect that has been used over and over again in more than 200 or so movies. You'll hear that scream when someone is shot, falls from on top of buildings or maybe hurled from an explosion.

Voiced by actor and singer Sheb Wooley, the sound is named after Private Wilhelm, a character in "The Charge at Feather River," western made in 1953 where the character gets shot with an arrow.

But what's funny about it is, how it became an inside joke after the scream was used in movies like; the Indiana Jones series, Disney cartoons, Star Wars and many other blockbuster films as well as television programs and video games.
