Flash Floods Threatening East Texas Residents
Overnight as much as 5 inches and more of rain fell upon the residents of East Texas. The commute into work this morning may be a tough one for many because a lot of roads - county roads and major roads - are under water this morning. TXDOT, Texas DPS along with county and city police departments are reporting numerous roads that are submerged.
While driving, if you encounter a flooded roadway, remember - TURN AROUND DON'T DROWN.
It takes just a little swift moving water over the surface of the road to push your car off the road and potentially wash you down stream.
Already this morning there has been a few high water rescues throughout East Texas resulting in at least one person being transported to a local hospital.
A Flash Flood Watch remains in effect for all of East Texas until at least Thursday afternoon.
For a partial list of road closures due to flooding, you can check out the list on KLTV. According to KLTV 7, the Rusk County Sheriff is asking Rusk county residents to remain home for now because there are so many roads under water and many are not safe for travel at this time.
