Baseball season is over and the Houston Astros fans are still basking in their World Series victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers. Normally sports fans make friendly wagers on their favorite team but Mattress Mack doubles down.

You remember Mattress Mack, right? He's the Houston business owner who opened his furniture store to all victims of Hurricane Harvey. His store lined with beds provided shelter and a place for respite for thousands of people.

From ABC 13, Jim McIngvale otherwise known as “Mattress Mack” of Gallery Furniture made a wager with his customers - if the Astros win the World Series, they get their furniture for FREE!  All they had to do was to spend at least $3,000 on a mattress.

Well, the Astros are the champs and it’s time for “Mattress Mack” to pay up! On Sunday, customers lined up around the store at 6 pm where they received a refund check worth at least $3,000. The event was a blessing in disguise because some of those individuals in line were victims of Hurricane Harvey.

Thelma Rosenberg told MLB:

I'm going to buy new furniture, a new couch because we had to throw everything out.

When it was all said, and done “Mattress Mack” and Gallery Furniture refunded up to $10 million dollars and he said it was worth it. Customers did have to pay taxes on the mattresses by the way.

Will “Mattress Mack” continue the promotion next year?  He said to be on the safe side he would have to ask his wife.

Smart man!
