The Tyler Police Department was notified on Wednesday, July 19th around 8:20 a.m. that Tarhondia Jackson did show up at the Department of Family and Protective Services in Tyler and turned over Jamar Ross to their custody.

Jamar is now in the protective custody of CPS and Tarhondia Jackson was subsequently arrested on an unrelated charge and booked into the Smith County Jail.



An AMBER Alert has been issued for an 11-month-old child from Tyler, Texas.  The alert was issued because the child had been court-ordered to be turned over to the custody of Child Protective Services (CPS) by a Smith County Judge. The AMBER alert went out to cell phones across East Texas around 4:45 Tuesday afternoon (July 18th).

According to the Tyler Police Facebook page, the department received a report from Child Protective Services on Friday, July 14th asking them to assist them in taking custody of 11-month-old Jamar Ross. Upon arriving at the residence on W. Mims St. around 1:30 p.m., the child nor the child's mother were present.

Police and CPS believe the child is with his mother, 26-year-old Tarhondia Jackson. Both agencies are looking for the pair at this time.

Jamar Ross is described as:

  • 11-months-old
  • Black male
  • Black hair
  • Brown Eyes
  • 2'8" in height
  • 45 pounds

Tarhondia Jackson is described as:

  • 26-years-old
  • Black female
  • Black hair
  • Brown eyes
  • 6'2" in height
  • 200 pounds

A Smith County Judge issued the details for the AMBER Alert to be issued for Jamar Ross.
