(Tyler, Texas) - As much as we groan about having a job, we understand how important it is to have one. We need that money coming in to provide for our family and to keep the lights on. Over the last decade or so, we've seen an interesting shift in the job market across the country and even in Texas.

Some will say that the advancement of technology has become a detriment to the job market. In some ways that is true. In other ways, it has shifted jobs to concentrating on something else. For today, I thought I would look back 150 years and see what the top jobs were compared to today.

The Top Jobs in Texas Today

I love my job in radio. It is so much fun standing behind a microphone talking to you and playing the music you love. Sure, it's a format that is not as popular as it once was, but it's the only format you can get a real connection with.

Looking at the top jobs in Texas today, entertainment is nowhere near the top. You would think that agriculture and farming would be high on this list, but it's not. It's actually an interesting collection of medical, technology and moving goods.
