Longview Mayor Expected To Make COVID-19 Announcement

Gregg County officials, including the mayor of Longview, are expected to make an announcement this afternoon regarding the COVID-19 outbreak in East Texas.

According to the City of Longview, the announcement will be made during a press conference and will include an update on the current status of COVID-19 in the county and way the community can take preventative actions.

Longview Mayor Andy Mack said that the announcement could affect restrictions on activities in Longview and Gregg County, as Austin/Travis County, Dallas County, and Waco communities ordered residents to “shelter in place” on Monday.

It’s being held at the Gregg County Courthouse at 1 p.m.

As of this morning (3/24), Gregg County had one confirmed case of COVID-19.
