The man whose actions caused quite a stir in Tyler earlier this year [April], is back in the news after a grand jury handed down more indictments in his case.

William George Davis, 34, was arrested and charged with capital murder in April after an investigation uncovered he was allegedly injecting air into patients arms, causing death or harm. He was indicted on a murder charge and two aggravated assault charges in June.

According to judicial records, a Smith County grand jury handed down a capital murder charge and two additional aggravated assault charges against Davis on Tuesday [August 28], all relating to the earlier investigation.

According to KLTV, Davis had worked as a registered nurse at CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler and was terminated when the investigation into his actions was opened in February. The investigation revealed Davis allegedly injected air into the arterial lines of seven patients, Two died and two other are in a vegetative state. (An arterial line is a thin catheter inserted into an artery.)

CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Francis issued a press release in response to the new charges, stating in part:

We continue to be distressed by these serious allegations. However, our health care ministry remains rooted in our mission to extend the healing ministry of Jesus Christ. We will not allow this matter to take away from the exceptional holistic care provided to our patients and their families.

Judicial records show Davis' jury trial is scheduled for Dec. 3. Davis remains in jail on bonds exceeding $400,000.
