Real Life Mario Kart Coming to Texas in April and May
Mark your calendars for Sunday, April 21 as the Mushroom Rally go-cart league will make a stop in Dallas to qualify some lucky racers for the finals in Las Vegas according to dallasobserver.com. There is no exact location set aside yet other than "20 minutes North of downtown Dallas".
If you want to race or get more details, go to eventbrite.com.
Back in November, we told you about the same race event coming to Houston in May. If you can't make the Dallas event, you could always make the trip to South Texas.
Real life Mario Kart is coming to Houston Saturday, May 18 and Saturday, May 25 according to abc13.com. Mushroom Rally has been hosting races in Europe and will begin it's United States tour next year in Los Angeles.
Basically, you show up in your Mario Kart costume and race on specially designed tracks while collecting stars for prizes. The top finisher in each city heads to Las Vegas to compete in the final.
Tickets to race can be purchased at eventbrite.com. No word if there is a cost to spectate. The actual location of the race has not been revealed as of yet.
I've been playing Mario Kart since the Super Nintendo days and it's one of the best racing games ever. Too bad you can't get real power ups like in the game. Wouldn't it be cool to throw a banana peel behind you for your competition to spin out on. Or throwing a turtle shell at the guy or girl in first place to take the lead.
No word, either, if Rainbow Road will be the track of choice. Happy racing friends. Maybe I can convince the boss to enter me in the race, you know, for video content for you to enjoy, wink, wink.
