San Francisco Could Offer 220 Square-Foot Apartments for $1,700 Per Month
Supervisors in San Francisco are set to vote on Tuesday on a big change to the city's building code that will allow construction of the tiniest apartments in the country.
Under this crazy plan, new apartments could be as small as 220 square feet. People need to know this is a little more than double the size of prison cells, including a kitchen, bathroom and closet.
The regulations now require the living room alone to be that size.
The small units are planned for San Francisco's Market neighborhood. They will have window seats that turn into spare beds and beds that turn into tables.
Aaaaand, they'll only cost from $1,200 to $1,700 per month. Ouch!
