The United States Navy Concert Band is Coming to UT Tyler
Music and patriotism, two of my favorite things. The United States Navy Concert Band is bringing their 2019 national tour to East Texas and UT Tyler next Wednesday, February 27.
According to our news partner KLTV, The University of Texas at Tyler announced that 10 of its students will be joining the United States Navy Concert Band in the performance that will take place at 7 p.m. on February 27 at the R. Don Cowan Fine and Performing Arts Center.
“This will be a great event not only for the University but also for the city of Tyler,” said Dr. Jeff Emge, UT Tyler professor of music. “Tyler enjoys and supports music, and the U.S. Navy Band is one of the top concert bands in the nation.”
This year's concert program features an exciting variety of pieces ranging from traditional marches and concert band literature to Broadway tunes and orchestral masterworks. The Concert Band will feature music by renowned American composer Leonard Bernstein on his 100th birthday celebration, and virtuosic solos will highlight the outstanding performers in the Concert Band. Each and every concert ends with a patriotic tribute to the veterans in our audience and our fellow service members around the world.
