Join KNUE on Thursday, May 31 with country star Trace Adkins, who will be in town to give a special send-off for 33 World War II veterans headed for Washington D.C., courtesy of Brookshire's/Super 1 Foods.Trace will sing the National Anthem around 6:15 a.m. on May 31 at the Brookshire's location on Rice Road in Tyler. Adkins is a big supporter of  our military and he is making a special trip to send off these 33 WWII veterans.

Brookshire's is sponsoring the trip to D.C. which will include a visit to the WWII Memorial, U.S. Capitol, changing of the guards at Arlington National Cemetery and other sites. The trip is at no cost for the veterans.

According to Rick Ellis, the of VP/Marketing for Brookshire Grocery Company:

This is the fourth trip to Washington for the WWII veterans. The response from the veterans has been overwhelming. They have 100 veterans on the waiting list.

Even though the May flight is already full, veterans interested in taking part in the future can apply by calling 903-534-3076 to request an application.

The World War II Memorial was not dedicated until 2004, so most of the veterans have not seen their memorial. Brookshire Grocery Co. is happy to provide this opportunity! So, come out and join KNUE and Trace Adkins for this celebration and show your support for these veterans.
