It was the 30th Anniversary Gala, held this year at Tyler Rose Horse Park & Brunson Equestrian Center, & even torrential rain leaking through the edges of the big tents at an early point in the festivities couldn't cool the sold out 1500-strong crowd's enthusiasm.

Attendees were treated to a tasty variety of BBQ & Tex-Mex options, the "spirits" were flowing freely, plenty of gambling "fun & frustration" was had at the Vegas-style tables, & the music was hot from start to finish.  Some of the best entertainment at parties of this type comes from checking out the "fashion fiesta", & simply people watching- last night's gathering did not disappoint!

Midway through the evening, the big ticket auction items, including a private poker night with Dallas Cowboys legends, went up for bids & delivered some serious cash for the American Cancer Society.  Concert headliner Trace Adkins came on stage to join in the fundraising efforts, autographing a guitar & one of his signature hats to the delight of fans.  Finally it was performance time, & the Country Superstar put on his usual great set to send the crowd home happy.

Between the ticket sales, auction proceeds, & other donations, it's expected the 2017 Tyler Cattle Barons' Gala total take could hit the $500,000 mark, which would push the 3-decade amount raised to around 15-million dollars, a huge win for everyone involved in the on-going fight to find a cure for all cancers!

On a personal note:  this was my first time representing KNUE & our other Townsquare Media radio stations on the scene at a charity function of this magnitude.  Seeing so many East Texans stepping up to contribute on behalf of such a worthy cause was heartwarming...
