I am a huge fan of the Dallas Cowboys, so when I got wind of this story, I knew I had to share.  The U.S. Patent Office ruled just minutes ago, that the Washington Redskins nickname is "disparaging of Native Americans" and that the team's federal trademarks for the name must be canceled.

It was a 2-1 ruling after a campaign to change the name was pushed this past year. The team will not have to change their name immediately and will be able to keep the name during an appeal, which it's a big possibly will happen.

Owner Dan Snyder of the team refuses to change the team's name, because of the tradition, but with all the pressure they are receiving including some statements from President Obama and civil groups.

The case involves six registered trademarks that involve the use of the word Redskins, but it does not apply to the team's logo.

We'll just have to wait and see I guess.
