This new high school campus in north central Texas is more impressive than some college campuses. It was a few years ago that Tyler ISD debuted new high school campuses that had the look and feel of college campuses. Looking back at my high school, it was nothing but a big square box with rooms and a gymnasium. It was just a plain kind of school.

Today's newly constructed schools around Texas are getting much larger, more elaborate, and with many more amenities than in the past.

This past Wednesday students at Walnut Grove High School in Prosper, Texas reported to class for the first time this year and they definitely walked into a new school that they have to be extremely proud of. This new multi-million dollar campus is more like a prestigious college campus crossed with a professional athletics compound crossed with a mall food court.

My high school looked nothing like this new school!

This campus has a 2200-seat multi-sport arena, an indoor football practice facility, and a weight room that would have any college athletics program feeling jealous. It's not just the athletics facilities that are impressive, the school cafeteria is just as impressive.

The cafeteria rivals just about any mall food court. Looking at the pictures that were posted on Texas Football Life on X, there are some pretty big-name brands being offered to students for lunch. This sure beat the old triangle cheese pizza I used to buy for 85 cents at my school!

Take a look at this school.

Top 10: These Are Texas’ Most Expensive High School Football Stadiums in '22

There's a reason every good high school football movie is based in Texas. Here in the Lone Star State Friday nights are revered and our young men in football pads exalted to legends in their hometowns.
