Although the state of Texas has reopened under Governor Abbott's 'Phase 1' plan, the practice of social distancing is still in effect. A park ranger in Austin reminded a group of young adults about that and he was met with action that was both rude and disrespectful. What's worse? It was all caught on video.

A crowd gathered at Commons Ford in Austin just before 5 p.m. on Thursday (April 30), when the park ranger approached and reminded them to stay at least 6 ft. away from each other.  In the video posted to Reddit, you can hear people in the video say 'okay man', and 'will do'. Just a few seconds later, you can see a man round the corner and shove the park ranger into the water.

According to the Austin American-Statesman, that man has been identified as 25-year-old Brandon Hicks. In an arrest affidavit, it's stated that Hicks' actions could have "caused the Ranger to strike his head on the dock as he was falling, and render himself unconscious in at least 3 feet of water where he could have drowned to death."

Hicks was charged with attempted assault on a public servant, a felony, and was booked on a $7,500 bail amount, according to online county records.

Hicks could face up to two years in jail and an up to $10,000 fine.
