Once the presents have all been unwrapped and the decorations start to come down what do you do with that live tree that's been a symbol of Christmas in your home for the last few weeks? Recycle it! The City of Tyler Solid Waste Department and Keep Tyler Beautiful are setting up two locations in Tyler where you can recycle your tree for others to come by and pick up and use for other purposes.

Old abandoned live Christmas trees can be reused for fish habitats in local lakes! Area fishermen will use these undecorated trees by sinking them in their favorite fishing spots which will act as hiding places for small fish and a source of food for them too with the insects that call the branches their home!

Non-flocked, undecorated trees may be dropped off at either recycling location:

Golden Road Park - McDonald Rd. & Golden Rd.
Fun Forest Park - 900 block of N. Glenwood Blvd.

The recycling locations will be open beginning Monday, December 26th through Sunday, January 20, 2017. Trees are to be placed in the designated areas marked "Christmas Tree Recycling" and they need to be free of lights, ornaments, garland and tinsel.

The City of Tyler will also pick up discarded live trees curbside for disposal in the landfill.
