
A Rundown Of East Texas Schools Still Alive In The Football Playoffs.
The march to the Texas state championships in high school football rolls into week number 13.
There are still a number of teams from our neck of the woods that are in action. Get a look at the schedule after the jump.
In Class 1A, Division 1, the Garrison Bulldogs (10-1) will travel to Rose Stadium in Tyler to take on the Big Sandy Wildcats (8-3). Garrison had a bye the first week of the playoffs and then drubbed Moody last week 51-0. Big Sandy defeated Grapeland by one point in the first week of the playoffs and then defeated Normangee last week 30-8.
Also in the same region, the Lovelady Lions (10-1) will travel to Athens Friday night to take on the Price Carlisle Indians (11-0). Lovelady is coming off a 36-21 win over Alto last week. Meanwhile, the Indians are coming off a 39-12 win over Thrall.
Meanwhile, in Division 2 of Class 1A, the Wildcats of Mount Enterprise (10-1) will be playing Chilton (8-4) in Teague Friday night. Mount Enterprise whipped up on Gorman last week 51-0, while Chilton defeated Detroit 49-0.
The Tenaha Tigers (10-0) continue their impressive roll in Division 2, Class 1A. Last week saw the tigers smash Bremond 51-6. This week, Tenaha will take on Hubbard (9-2) who was a 53-8 winner over Beckville last week.
Moving up to Division 1 of Class 2A, the Crockett Bulldogs(10-1) will take on the Harmony Eagles (9-2) at Homer Bryce Stadium on the SFA Campus. Last week, the Bulldogs got past Newton 42-27, while the Eagles won over Marlin 9-7.
In division 2 of the same class, the Corrigan-Camden Bulldogs(9-3) will play against the Arp Tigers (9-2) Friday night in Buffalo (Texas, of course). Last week, the Bulldogs defeated Centerville 22-14 and Arp dominated Rogers 52-20.
The winners of 3 straight state championships, the Carthage Bulldogs (9-3) continue their roll for number four Friday night in Mansfield as they take on Argyle (11-1). Last week in Class 3A, Division 2 playoffs, Carthage beat North Forney 31-12, and Argyle outscored Prosper 40-24.
After a hard fought win over Cameron last week, the Tatum Eagles (10-2) advance to take on East Chambers (9-2) Friday night in Lufkin.
Daingerfield (9-3) will be playing against Redwater (8-3) in the Class 3A playoffs Friday night in Hallsville.
Bullard (8-4) continues their run in the playoffs in Class 3A as well. Saturday, Bullard will be in the Woodlands to take on West Orange-Stark (9-3).
We're 3 weeks into the playoffs, is it any surprise that the Buckeyes are still around? Not at all, Gilmer (12-0) reloads and will take on Van Alstyne Friday night in Forney.
The number one team in class 3A, Chapel Hill (12-0), will try to claim the state quarterfinals championship of region 3 Friday night as they take on Navasota (11-1) in Waco.
How 'bout those Henderson Lions (10-2). They're set for a big battle this Friday night as they travel to Mesquite to take on Celina (11-0).
It's been a few years since the Big Red claimed a state championship, but the Kilgore Bulldogs (7-5) are on a roll. Friday afternoon, they're taking on Frisco (10-2) in Forney.
Let's go Lions!! John Tyler(9-3) continues their march in the Class 4A playoffs as they take on Highland Park Friday night in Waco.
And wrapping up our look at this weekend's playoff games, Longview (11-1) will be taking on Spring Dekaney (10-2) in Corsicana Saturday afternoon. Go Lobos!!
