Just that list alone is worth the purchase.

Well, this morning (June 4), Youtuber RGT85 gave us the final twelve games that will be on the Sega Genesis Mini. Wait? Twelve? That means there are 42 games on the system? Yup. And there are a couple of cool surprises in the final twelve.

  • Strider
  • Virtua Fighter 2
  • Columns
  • Dynamite Headdy
  • Light Crusader
  • Eternal Champions (I loved this fighting game. Me and my high school buddy were super competitive playing it.)
  • Road Rash II
  • Alisia Dragoon
  • Kid Chameleon
  • Monster World IV (Only released in Japan)
  • Darius (Only released in Japan)
  • Tetris (Supposedly there are less than ten physical copies of this game in the world.)

Sega has really put some thought into this system. Three of the games we never saw in the U.S. during the original Genesis run. Tetris for the Genesis is so rare that a physical copy of the game goes for thousands of dollars among collectors. So basically, we have four "new" games on the console. This will rule all the mini systems out now.

One question that you're probably asking, "How can we play these fighting games with just a three button controller?" Retrobit has a Sega licensed six button controller that is compatible with the mini. There is a translucent blue and solid black version available.

You can preorder the Sega Genesis Mini through Walmart, Amazon, Gamestop and Best Buy. And yes, I have preordered mine. I'll grab my buddy, Shawn, and we'll do an unboxing and game play video after I pick it up at Best Buy September 19.
