This is one of my favorite stories of all time. I remember the first time I read the book, I quickly fell in love with Marmee and all of her "little women." Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy became friends I would take with me throughout my life.

Then, when the 1995 film came out starring Susan Sarandon, Winona Ryder, Claire Danes, and Kirsten Dunst, I must've watched it over a hundred times. I, like many little girls and teenagers, felt drawn to the story and even imagined what it must've been like to have lived in the story.

If you can relate or this is a story you'd like your daughter or sister to experience, here's a wonderful opportunity. As someone who majored in theatre in college, I can tell you there's nothing quite like performing the play on-stage to truly enmesh yourself in the story--it stays with you forever.

Tyler Civic Theatre is holding auditions for Louisa May Alcott's Little Women on September 30 and October 1 at 7 p.m. The show itself will run November 19 through 24. So, if you audition, you'll need to plan for the rehearsals and show dates.

A couple more audition tips? TCTC asks that you arrive no later than 6:30 so you'll have time to fill out your form and check in. If there are any rehearsal conflicts you know of, they ask you let them know that evening so they can plan accordingly. You'll only need to plan to attend one of the audition nights, although there may be callbacks.

This is an all-female cast. Learn more at their website.
