Iconic Dallas Sports Tradition Happens Near National Cemetery
(Dallas, Texas) We know there are some amazing and really cool things that happen in our home state of Texas, but I’m not sure anything is better than this incredible sports tradition that takes place.
Stopping the Game to Honor Veterans
I have never been to a baseball game watching the Dallas Baptist University team; to be honest, I had never heard of the team before. But there was a video online showing the team playing their game but at 7:00 p.m. each night something really cool happens.
Their games are played right next to the Dallas National Cemetary, which is the final resting place for over 60,000 veterans and their family.

The Game Always Stops at 7:00 p.m.
At 7:00 p.m. each night at the Dallas National Cemetary, TAPS is played over the loudspeakers. At that point the game stops and the park goes silent. All players, coaches, fans, and umpires stand to face the flag to honor those in the Dallas National Cemetary.
I truly cannot think of a more amazing tradition within any sport. After hearing TAPS played at my grandfather's funeral it gives me chills every time I hear it.
Just knowing that this happens makes me want to go see a game, and cheer on the Dallas Baptist University team.

Video Showing the Cool Tradition
I stumbled upon this amazing tradition on social media as there was a video posted online about it by CBS Sports. It has received lots of traction online, which I think is awesome. We should always support and remember all veterans who served our great country.
