Disney’s “Moana” Wins Holiday Weekend Box Office Crown
$81-mil in US ticket sales propels Moana to the top spot.
Among other new Thanksgiving releases, Brad Pitt's World War II spy drama Allied fared the best, taking in $18-mil nationwide & finishing in 4th place. Bad Santa 2, with Billy Bob Thornton back in the title role, came in a disappointing 8th ($9-mil). The long weekend's real bomb was Warren Beatty's Howard Hughes/Hollywood story Rules Don't Apply. Total box office gross for this film was only $2-mil, ranking it a dismal 12th.
