ETX Veteran’s Headstone Stolen, Police Seeking Help With Case
The Smith County Sheriff’s Office is asking for help locating a stolen headstone. While it'd be a stretch to think this had anything to do with Mr. Murray's veteran status, with Veteran's Day just around the corner, it makes it sting a bit more.
An image of the headstone was posted to the Sheriff’s Office Monday morning (Nov. 5), and officials said it was taken early to mid-September from Noonday Cemetery located at 16173 Highway 155 South in Noonday.
According to the picture, the stone was placed at the grave of Earl D. Murray who was a U.S. Army Veteran having served in both WWII and Korea. If you have any information regarding the theft and whereabouts of the stone, contact Sgt. Nikki Keegan at 903-590-2646.
