First Photo Of Timothée Chalamet In Upcoming ‘Dune’ Remake
'Dune' is one of the movies that, for many, once you see it, it's forever etched in your psyche. Based on the 1965 science fiction novel written by American author Frank Herbert, I was transported when I saw Kyle MacLachlan star as 'Paul Atreides' in the 1984 version. I never thought I would see a preview of a remake that would ever re-stoke that initial fire of fan-hood until now.
Denis Villeneuve’s adaptation of 'Dune' starring one of my newly minted favorite actors of this new generation, Timothée Chalamet, has changed all of that.
If you're not familiar with the story, Vanity Fair describes the opening into this strange sci-fi world as "the first step of a hero’s journey [...] when the young royal Paul Atreides prepares to leave the comfortable life he knows for a desolate, dangerous mining planet known as Arrakis, where his wealthy family will oversee extraction of a spice vital to the galaxy."
By the way, if you've never watched the 1984 version and love movies into which you can escape the dystopia and chaos of our world for that of other worlds, I highly recommend you add this to your "quarantine queue."
One of the reasons I've been hesitant to want to see yet another adaptation of yet another epic classic movie, is because in my opinion it's hard to find an actor that can pull it off. But after what I've seen of Timothée Chalamet, I believe it can be done.
Adding to my excitement is the news that the roles of Duke Leto and Lady Atreides will be played by another personal favorite Oscar Isaac and Rebecca Ferguson, respectively.
Vanity Fair set to go deeper on production details on Tuesday.
