Former Texas Officer Sentenced to 20 Years in Prison
A former police officer in Texas is proving the point that no one is above the law. The sentence for Jonathon Paul Hutchison of Mabank, Texas was handed down on Wednesday after he was convicted of selling drugs.
The 41-year-old was arrested in March of 2023 according to CBS 19, the initial investigation accused him and the former Payne Springs Police Chief April Meadows of selling drugs that were seized by the police department they worked for. The judge overseeing the case sentenced Hutchison to 20 years in prison.
How Did the Police Officer Get Caught Selling Drugs?
Hutchison pled guilty to the charges after being caught by the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office. They found out what was happening by an informant who had been conducting controlled drug deals for police officers.
He Was Doing More Than Dealing Drugs
Beyond selling drugs that were seized by the police department, Hutchison also received an additional two-year sentence for money laundering and tampering with an electronic monitoring device.
