I lucked into getting a Nintendo Classic Mini when it was released in 2016. My first gaming system was the Nintendo and it was great to be able to play many of the games I always loved.

I had always known that it was possible to add games to the system. Because of licensing rights and legal red tape, a lot of great games could not be put on the system.

I searched for ways online to add some more of my favorites but most were over complicated or just not very good ways to do it. And could have destroyed the machine, also called "bricking".

It wasn't until I found a Youtube channel from user ETA Prime. He has a step-by-step process to add more games that's easy to follow and understand.

Using his method, I was able to add classic games like Contra, Spy Hunter, Tetris, Tecmo Super Bowl, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Arcade Game and many more.

ETA PRIME warns you in the video that there is the very possibility you could still brick your system and I will warn you as well. Please do this at your own risk.

And yes, I know, there are many other ways to play these classic games through various emulator systems. But I love these because of the classic feel. Even if you have to get up to hit reset to switch games or use the corded controllers.

My plan is to eventually get a Raspberry Pi so I go deeper into my retro game favorites, including some of those arcade favorites that I put thousands of dollars of quarters in as a kid.

Happy gaming friends.
