Many towns in East Texas are known for something, something that has put them on the map.

  • Tyler, Texas is known for roses.
  • Pittsburg, Texas is known for hot links.
  • Kilgore, Texas is known for oil.
  • Jacksonville, Texas is known for tomatoes.
  • Edom, Texas is known for blueberries.
  • Grand Saline, Texas is known for salt.

From that short list of towns, you can see that East Texas is known for a lot of things. Along with these things, each one of the towns and others like them has its unique look, quirk, and things going on in them that bring in visitors from around the state as well as the country and international travelers.

Now getting around East Texas can be challenging, especially in Longview and Tyler, they take the gold for most traffic. Whereas people in Van and Overton seem to have it made when it comes to traffic! While traffic is a big deal there are other things some towns are known for, all eyes are on you Gilmer for your yams!

There's a TikTok user going by @DeerStandCowboy who moved to East Texas from Arkansas and he noticed something about our towns and made a video that clearly describes some of our cities with sounds that should represent them.

Before exposing yourself to the video, play along with us - think about what sounds could represent these East Texas cities: Gilmer, Longview, Lake Fork, Tyler, Mt. Pleasant, and Jacksonville.
