Blood donations are always in high demand in Texas, with hospitals and clinics requiring a steady supply to meet the needs of patients.

From accident victims and surgery patients to those undergoing cancer treatments, donated blood saves lives every day. However, many Texas blood banks and donation centers are experiencing critical shortages, especially during the holidays.

Carter BloodCare and Greenberg Smoked Turkey Are Giving East Texans An Incentive To Donate.

Carter BloodCare is one of the largest blood programs in Texas. They are an independent, community blood center providing transfusion resources to more than 200 medical facilities in 57 counties of North, Central and East Texas delivering more than 440,000 blood products annually to meet hospitals’ requirements for their patients.

They have teamed up with Greenberg Smoked Turkey to reach a goal of collecting 1,000 blood donations during a two-day event: “Give a Pint, Get a Bird” smoked turkey giveaway for blood donors.

Each volunteer donor at Tyler’s “Give a Pint, Get a Bird” blood drive Nov. 23 – 24 will receive a free Greenberg smoked turkey. Family-owned and operated Greenberg Smoked Turkey has been a cherished holiday tradition for more than 80 years.

Everyone who presents to give also receives a Carter BloodCare blanket, while supplies last. Donation appointments are first-come, first-served for the Nov. 23-24 event. Residents are urged to schedule a donation appointment in advance.
