An East Texas Man Is Going To Prison For A Very Long Time After He Tried To Use His Child To Hide A Very Dangerous Drug From Police.

Back on May 6th, 27 Year Old Dredarian Ester and his baby mother, Jada Speight, were arrested after a deputy pulled them over at a 7-Eleven, located at 3400 Van Highway in Tyler.

Their 6-month-old girl was in the backseat when the deputy noticed the smell of marijuana, and a conversation led the deputy to believe narcotics may have been concealed in the baby's clothing. What happened next shocked police.

Police Allowed Speight To Change The Baby's Diaper.

When Speight was changing the baby's diaper, the deputy saw a pill bottle inside of the diaper. The deputy recognized the contents of the bottle as suspected fentanyl pills. Ester, the baby's dad, admitted to placing the pills into the diaper.

Fentanyl is a powerful synthetic opioid that is up to 50 times stronger than heroin and 100 times stronger than morphine. Just 2 milligrams of fentanyl, equal to 10 to 15 grains of table salt, is considered a lethal dose according to The Texas Department of Health And Human Services.

Ester pleaded guilty on Monday to several charges.

Considering that having a dangerous drug like that in close proximity to their child, the court showed no mercy to Ester who plead guilty to charges of manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance between four and 200 grams, tampering with evidence and prohibited substance in a correctional facility.

He was sentenced to 40 years for manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance charge, and he received 20 years each for tampering with evidence and prohibited substance in a correctional facility. He will serve the 20-year sentences at the same time as the 40-year sentence. Speight has a pre-trial hearing for her manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance charge this week.
