Kenny Rogers is on the promotional trail for his new book ‘Luck or Something Like It,’ and while chatting with CBS This Morning, the singer addressed the long-standing rumors of a past romance with fellow country legend Dolly Parton. He and his ‘Real Love’ and ‘Islands in the Stream’ duet partner Parton did not go down that road, simply because they were too good of friends and any sort of romantic dalliance would have spoiled their friendship.

“She’s too good of a friend,” the singer said (quotes courtesy of GAC). “It would have ruined a friendship.”

Rogers also revealed that the source of all those rumors was the fact that the twosome had electrifying chemistry and the fact that he played along. “I think what we had was a real chemistry and we loved people talking about it. It was great to hear people talking about it and I would wink back, but we were too good of friends for that,” he said.

The singer also addressed the plastic surgery, which changed his looks dramatically, with candor. “I had the money to do it and I had time off,” Rogers said. “But, it’s one of those things that I think everybody — you look at yourself and you go could I be better if I did this or if I did that? I did it and the guy who did it was one of the world’s best. He just had this concept that the edge of your eyes had to be higher at a certain place. I regret that. The truth is, I don’t know what I would’ve looked like if I hadn’t done it. I mean, I could be all down here. So, you do it and live with it.”
