New Netflix True Crime Series Focuses on East Texas Case

A new Netflix documentary about the murder of a pregnant East Texas woman was released today. The documentary will cover the 2020 murder of Reagan Hancock of New Boston and her unborn baby, Braxlynn Sage Hancock.

The Murder of Reagan Hancock and Braxlynn Sage Hancock

Reagan was 21 years old and at her home in New Boston on October 9, 2020, when prosecutors said 27-year-old Taylor Parker strangled, beat, and stabbed her to death. Parker then took Reagan’s unborn baby Braxlynn from her mother’s womb. Tragically, Braxlynn was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

How Taylor Parker Was Caught and Convicted

Parker was caught by a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper. In 2022, Parker was found guilty of capital murder and has remained on death row since her conviction.

The new documentary is called “Maternal Instinct”.

Where Taylor Parker's Appeals Stand Today

In 2025, Parker appealed her convictions for kidnapping and attempted kidnapping. The United States Supreme Court denied a plea to hear Parker’s case.

Parker remains on death row and is being held at the Patrick L. O'Daniel Women's Unit in Gatesville, Texas. There is no current execution date set for Parker as that can only be set after all of her possible appeals fail to change her sentence.

Parker is one of seven women currently on death row in Texas. None currently have execution dates scheduled.

This documentary is expected to get a lot of attention now that it has been released.
