East Texas Man Allegedly Forced Stranger to Bury Dog at Gunpoint
(KNUE-FM) On Thursday, September 18th, there was a Mineola man who was arrested after allegedly forcing another man at gunpoint to dig a grave for his dog after the dog was hit by a vehicle. According to KETK, the suspect in this case is Alberto Joshua Hernandez.
The incident began last Thursday when an East Texas resident who hit a dark-colored dog that was in the road. The driver stopped to assess the damage to their vehicle when a silver Ford pick-up pulled up next to his vehicle.
Allegedly, Hernandez got out of the truck and pointed a gun at him. The victim was pleading for his life, and Hernandez demanded that the victim find the dog that was just hit.
Gunpoint Threat and Forced Burial
The dog was found in a ditch and was deceased at this point. The victim carried the dog to Hernandez’s property while a gun was pointed at him. That is when Hernandez then demanded that the victim dig a grave for the dog. While the victim was digging the grave Hernandez then told the victim to hand over his phone and keys. Hernandez then went inside his home and came back outside with an AR-style rifle.

Demands for Cash at the Bank
Once the dog was buried, the victim claims that he was then forced to drive Hernandez to a local bank to pay him for the deceased dog. The two got in Hernandez's silver Ford truck and when arriving at the bank the victim took out $200 and handed it over. The pair then drove back to the victim’s vehicle and that ended the incident.
The next day the victim identified Hernandez in a police line-up. There was also video from the bank of the victim handing over money while a passenger was holding a gun.

Arrest and Charges in Mineola
Hernandez was placed under arrest by the Mineola Police Department and is being held in the Wood County Jail on bonds totaling $660,000.
