Former Nashville star Clare Bowen has released her first solo single, "Let It Rain." The song, and its accompanying music video, are the first release from her upcoming self-titled album, due out July 12 on BMG.

Bowen's "Let It Rain" music video captures stunning imagery that showcases the beauty behind life's struggles and scars. The clip brings together a story of resilience through the hard times, and the message that you will come out on the other side.

Bowen directed her "Let It Rain" video herself, alongside Tyler Barksdale. The clip co-stars Bowen’s husband, Brandon Robert Young, as well as with a number of her close friends. The single itself was produced and co-written by Josh Kaufman (Bob Weir, the National, the Hold Steady). Bowen co-wrote the song in Nashville with Kaufman and her husband, with whom she collaborates regularly.

“‘Let It Rain’ is about my gratitude for life’s lessons, no matter how hard. I wouldn’t be sitting here writing this without them,” Bowen tells People. “I believe that everyone and everything we encounter in life, good and bad, leads us to the place and person we’re meant to be. Even when we bugger up real bad, because mistakes are how we learn to be better versions of ourselves.”

Even though "Let It Rain" is Bowen's first single, she has performed on a number of shows and tours, both overseas and the United States, promoting the former TV drama Nashville, on which she played Scarlett O'Connor for the entirety of the show's six-season run. Her most recent touring gig was supporting Sugarland on their Still the Same Tour.

This song is just the first taste of Bowen's upcoming album. Along with the record's release, she will head out on her first solo headlining tour this summer.
