This past Saturday was our 12th annual Red Dirt BBQ and Music Festival and it was incredible. We had thousands of people attending one of the most fun events every year here in East Texas. Before we get into some of the fun that was going on backstage, from all of the staff organizers and employees that worked the event, thank you for attending.

Okay, now let’s talk about the behind-the-scenes stuff that was going on backstage. Because it was a lot of fun back there.

There were lots of people in attendance who love ’90s country and Tracy Byrd didn’t disappoint as he played all of his huge hits while the crowd was singing along. But before going on stage to introduce him, Tara Holley and I approached him to say hi and how much we loved his music.

If you’re wondering what it’s like to meet Tracy Byrd, it’s as fun as you would think. He is the kindest man, and Tara said it perfectly, “He is a Southern Gentleman.” He treated everyone with respect and took time to take photos with everyone after he got off stage.

Aaron Watson Made Time for Everyone Backstage

Aaron Watson is very well known. He has been making great country music for many years and it’s like everyone knew him backstage. He was saying hi to everyone and stopping to chat with those who wanted to meet him.

One thing I will always remember was the time he took after getting off stage to meet Hudson Westbrook and even introduce his son Jake who is an up-and-coming musician to Hudson. It was just cool to see a dad do everything he could to help his son further his career and connections in the business.

Hudson Westbrook Proved Why Fans Love Him

And it was clear that there were lots of people beyond excited to see our headliner Hudson Westbrook who was one of the most down-to-earth people you could meet. He had zero ego, and was happy to meet his fans, sign autographs, and take photos and videos.

I don’t want to skip over Parker Ryan, Bottomland, and Southall because they were all fantastic as well and all very kind and friendly backstage.

Having worked many shows with all kinds of artists and egos, this year was amazing and we couldn’t have asked for nicer artists to work with. The entire event was phenomenal, and we look forward to making things even better for our 13th annual Red Dirt BBQ and Music Festival next year.

Country Stars With Their Own Bars + Restaurants

Of all of the side hustles country artists could partake in, opening a bar or restaurant is the most fitting — and very common. After all, many of these stars got their start on a barstool, tip jar nearby, playing their music for anyone who would listen.

These places feel like home for many of these singers. Over the years, several artists have gotten into the bar or restaurant game, and for a select few, brands have turned into franchises with several locations and/or concepts — we're looking at you, Jimmy Buffett!

Let's take a look at the country star food and entertainment venues that have opened over the years.
