Shaquille O’Neal Is Opening Restaurants In West Texas

Shaquille O’Neal is known for a lot of different things: basketball, rapping, acting, and now owning a fried chicken chain restaurant.

Back in April 2022, I told y'all he was opening this store called Big Chicken. He was set to open 50 stores in the Lone Star state. I know a lot of people that tried it and said it is really good.

Soon Lubbock will be able to try it as well.

Big Chicken's menu consists of fried chicken sandwiches, chicken tenders and sides. A lot of the menu items are named after important individuals from O’Neal’s family and career. The best-selling menu item is the Uncle Jerome, named after a childhood friend.

Shaq already knows and loves Lubbock. He has been here to perform and now he is coming for a new restaurant too.

According to the press release, he will be expanding all over West Texas and Oklahoma. The Firehouse Subs system (Jones' restaurant) is the one helping bring this chicken place.

“I’ve worked in restaurants for nearly my entire life, and Big Chicken is unmatched in its category. The way the concept has been developed from operations and innovation standpoints is truly amazing. The brand story, the leadership team and the menu are all clear differentiators. I am blown away,” said Jones, who prior to owning and operating restaurants held executive sales positions in the high-end wine industry. “Plus, to be in the same business family as Shaquille O’Neal means we instantly have fantastic credibility given his entrepreneurial successes.”

While we do know he is opening a location in Lubbock. We aren't sure just yet where else he is opening.

Honestly, I can't wait to get there all the food sounds amazing. My mom has had it in Austin and said it was really good. I mean look at all these endless options.

The restaurant will be opening at 7411 Milwaukee Avenue, Lubbock, TX. They hope to be open this year.
