Texas Congressman Al Green is calling for the impeachment of President Donald Trump. This latest push comes after Trump suggested that the United States should take control of Gaza and relocate many Palestinians elsewhere, according to a story from KHOU 11.

It would appear Trump’s plan for Gaza has sparked some controversy.

Trump made these remarks during a news conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Trump shared a vision where the U.S. would clear debris, remove unexploded bombs, and redevelop the area into what he called the "Riviera of the Middle East."

According to Trump, this plan would bring jobs and economic growth to Gaza.

However, those who are critical of his plan argue that forcing Palestinians to leave and then reshaping the region under U.S. control is neither a reasonable nor ethical solution. Some believe the plan ignores the deep-rooted, ongoing conflict and hardships faced by the people of Gaza.

Texas Congressman Al Green Calls Trump’s Proposal ‘Ethnic Cleansing’

Rep. Green strongly opposed Trump’s comments, calling them a form of 'ethnic cleansing.' He believes such statements and actions are not only dangerous but could violate human rights laws. Green also called out Netanyahu, going so far as to accuse both leaders of 'crimes against humanity.'

Because of this, Green announced he would file articles of impeachment against Trump, holding him accountable for what he calls 'dastardly deeds.'

However, this isn't the first time the Congressman has sought to impeach President Trump. This marks the fourth time Green has made the attempt.
