Tuesday, the Jacksonville City Council voted to ban texting while driving within the city. Even if you are at a complete stop at a stop sign or red light, if you check your phone, you can be pulled over and issued a fine of up to $500.

You can still talk on your cellphone while driving.

Signs will go up soon as you enter the city limits to let residents and travelers know of the ordinance. Once the signs are posted, that is when the law will start to be enforced.
