When the radio industry loses one, we all mourn, no matter the format, frequency or company behind the brand and this evening East Texas lost a legend.

According to a Facebook post on the station website, Tom Perryman passed away peacefully surrounded by friends and family.

Tom Perryman's career began began in the 1940's at a station in Jacksonville according to reports from East Texas Matters. Along the way he introduced East Texans to many well known stars today like Elvis Presley, Ray Price, Johnny Cash and so many more. In 2013 he was the Texas Assocciation of Broadcasters Pioneer of the Year. For decades his stories could be heard weekday mornings on 104.1 The Ranch. According to CBS 19, Tom was also inducted into the Country Music DJ Hall of Fame in 1988.

At this time funeral arrangements are pending and will be posted on the station's Facebook page.

East Texas gained a lot through the many years that Tom spent behind the mic at 104.1 The Ranch.
