The Women in Tyler Planning Committee hosted a reception on Jan. 9 to introduce the 2017 honorees on Monday at the McClendon House.

“The committee asked for nominations from the public in August that fit our 2017 theme, Women Who Make an Impact,” said Gwendolyn Cuba, event co-chair. “We received numerous nominations and the committee selected six deserving women.”

The 2017 honorees are:
Doris Baston
Susana Castro
Kui Cogan
Misti Ford
Dr. Dorothy L. Jackson, M.D.
Jane Manley
“We chose ‘Women Who Make an Impact!’ to honor and celebrate those women who have left a lasting mark on our community, creating positive and permanent change,” said Rosa Gonzales, co-chair. “We always hope to discover those women who give so much but often fly under the radar.”

The luncheon will be held on March 23 at the Tyler Rose Garden Center. The doors open at 11 a.m. and the program starts at 11:30 a.m. To make reservations, send a $30 check to Women in Tyler at P.O. Box 1432, Tyler, TX 75710. Please reserve seats early because the event typically sells out.

Women in Tyler was founded in 1999 as a way to celebrate Women’s History Month and to honor women who have contributed to the quality of life in our community. Each year, a planning committee has gathered to select women who are then honored at a celebratory luncheon held each March.
