The 34th Ever Rose City Chili Cook-off is scheduled for Saturday, March 7, at Gander Mountain in Tyler. The event will benefit the Spirit of St. Louis Therapeutic Riding Program for special needs teens and adults. The cook-off is a CASI sanctioned event, which stands for Chili Appreciation Society International whose mission statement is 'Chili, Charity and Fun.'

Competition categories include beans, junior chili, CASI chili and Showmanship. Participation in the beans category will cost $10 with turn in time scheduled for noon. Junior chili is also a $10 fee, but they will turn in their chili at 1:00 pm.

CASI chili is judged last with their turn in time set for 2:00, and the fee is $20. Showmanship is judged on theme, costumers, booth decorations, action and audience appeal and runs from noon till 1:00 pm.

If you want to participate in the People's Choice competition, but are not entered into the CASI competition the fee is $20, and you must provide tasting chili for the public, approximately two gallons. People's choice will be voted on by the public, and is not restricted by CASI rules.
